Why did you go into Music Therapy?
I pursued music therapy because I’ve always had a passion for music. Growing up with four siblings who all played instruments and had a love for music inspired me to find a career where I could use music to help others. This led me into researching the music therapy profession and discovering how I can make an impact in my community.

What is your favorite part of being a music therapist?
Watching my clients grow, improve, and succeed is the best part about being a music therapist. I love seeing excitement from clients when they accomplish a new task. It also brings me so much joy whenever I can share in musical experience with other people. It is truly a life-changing experience.
Advice for a high school student interested in this career?
If you have a passion for helping others accomplish their dreams and goals, as well as a love for music, then music therapy is the perfect career. Don’t be intimidated by the variety of instruments music therapists use; everything is taught to you as you progress through the program. Practice hard and never give up. If this is truly your passion, you will find a way to succeed. And don’t forget to make a lot of friends who are also pursuing music therapy, as they will be your network, idea board, and support throughout your journey. Have faith and go for it!
