Funding Resources for Music Therapy

Below you’ll find a list of funding resources that can be used to cover the cost of music therapy services offered by Keys for Success. We are happy to explore these or any other funding options available to you. Please contact us to start the conversation.


ohio resources

Family Support Services Program via Southwest Ohio Council of Governments (SWOCOG)

  • Eligibility: Household member with disability; amount of assistance is based on family income; must reside in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton or Montgomery county

Ohio Scholarship Programs: Autism and Jon Peterson Scholarships

  • Eligibility: Students in Ohio with an IEP. The student must opt out of public education and utilize either a non-public education program or be homeschooled.

  • Keys for Success can serve as a secondary provider with these scholarships.

Ohio SELF and Level One Waivers

Ohio Rise Flex Funds

  • Contact your care manager to request to use flex funds to cover music therapy sessions. Click here for more details about this resource.

Community Fund Ohio, click for more details and to apply

  • Awards grants to individuals with disabilities who reside in Ohio as well as nonprofit organizations that serve people with disabilities.

  • Individual applications for grants are reviewed quarterly. The quarterly deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 15.


Indiana resources

  • Medicaid Waivers - Keys for Success is a music therapy provider under both the Community Integration and Habilitation Waiver (CIH) and the Family Supports Waiver (FSW). These waiver programs are for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in Indiana. Learn more about these waiver programs here or apply via this page.

  • Individualized Education Program (IEP): Music therapy is covered through an IEP on a case-by-case basis. Contact Keys for Success for more information.

  • Drew’s Puzzle Piece Inc: Children with an Autism diagnosis who reside in the Greater Cincinnati area are encouraged to apply here.

  • Use your HSA funds to pay for services. Private pay discount applies.

  • Gift Vouchers: Invite your family and friends to celebrate special occasions by purchasing gift vouchers that you can apply toward music therapy services with Keys for Success!

  • C.A.R.E. Foundation grant program funds may be used to cover therapies

  • Mike’s Kids provides financial assistance to children with disabilities and their families.

  • MyGOAL Autism Grant is a program to support families caring for individuals with Autism

  • Oracle Health Foundation offers pediatric grants that cover clinical and other needs

  • Our Military Kids provides activity grants for children and teens during a parent’s National Guard or Reserve deployment or combat-injury recovery.

  • Parker’s Purpose Foundation awards grants to Ohio families in financial crisis due to unforeseen medical expenses. Grants be used for specific bills, equipment and other needs.

  • Trust the Journey awards funds to children who have disabilities, challenges and medically complex needs to cover therapy and other services

  • Variety The Children’s Charity - contact the national office to request a grant
